Self Propelled Lawn Mowers
Self propelled lawn mowers are easy to use machines. Identical in appearance to many of the push mowers, self propelled lawn mowers allow you to walk with the mower, and not have to push it from one end of the garden to the other. Although slightly more expensive than a standard push mower, these machines save you a lot of time and energy.
End of the push?
The horizontal bar known as the push is merely a guide. Simply direct the mower in the direction you wish to go and squeeze the handle. This action normally engages the self propelled mower and you only have to follow. You would have to select a speed before you start the mower, to ensure that the mower does not race ahead of you.
Some of the more expensive, intuitive models of self propelled lawn mowers have motors that register your walking speed, and will operate at exactly that same speed.
Multi-Speed
Lawn mowers generally come in a variety of speeds to accommodate all the different types of lawn mower usages. Whether you are a young, commercial groundskeeper that spends every day running up and down the fields making sure they are perfect, or a retiree ambling behind the mower to tidy up the garden, you can be sure there are a range of mowers available in the market that will travel at your desired speed.
You can go one step further and upgrade to a lawn mower that can be programmed to go at exactly your pace, and take all the effort out of mowing the lawn.
Cruise Control
These slightly more expensive lawn mowers are the latest innovation in technology. These features were developed to assist commercial workers to ease their work load. Today, these features translate to luxurious, residential lawn mowing machines that practically do the gardening chores themselves. You just have to oversee the job by following and steering the lawn mower. All of the top brands have cruise control lawn mower models. It is a standard feature to any flagship, walk-behind lawn mower.
Future developments
Further developments in self propelled lawn mowers will see standing drivers. This scooter-like development has been piloted by a few of the premier brands but some users criticize the quickness and the accuracy of the controls. In a couple of years though, don’t be surprised to see this as an additional feature to the push mower.
